We just celebrated my grandson’s second birthday. As I crouched down to grab this shot, I couldn’t help but marvel at having just two candles to focus on. It has been a loonnnggg time since there have been so few candles on a cake (if you don’t count his first birthday last year!). It made me a little melancholy for a simpler age, where youthful naivete ran rampant. Even more so, it made me appreciate being able to enjoy having a 2-year-old among us again (yup, I just said that!). Being a grandparent is truly one of life’s best gifts. Looking at the world from my grandson’s perspective is absolutely, incredibly refreshing. Two candles are just right.
